Antonio's trellis wall extension

This trellis wall extension has scalloped tops, finials and channelled upright supports. It has the 50mm square grid. it proved highly effective in obscuring the view of the neighbours altogether as all one sees when looking towards something so pretty is the pretty thing itself.

Desray's courtyard pergola trellis combo

This is a very simple, sparse pergola with a trellis backdrop. The grid size is 50mm which I tend to recommend in most situations. It is neither too big such that it doesn't create an effective barrier, nor too small such that it may look like and imposing grid.

Antonio's trellis fence

This trellis fence made up of 5 individual panels separated by brick columns. Each trellis panel is 1.8m high and 2.4m long, with a 50mm square grid. It is painted with a waterbased enamel called NuGlo by Duram. This trellis fence cost around R324 per square metre, installed.

Kathy's Bookshelf

Kathy wanted an open wall converted to a bookshelf.
I used Melamine. Partitions were insterted to provide upright support.
The unit was prepared before it was fitted, making the exercise more cost effective.

Maria's Poolside Trellis

Norah-Anne's Trellis Wall Extension

Norah-Anne wanted to get some privacy as her windows looked right onto her neighbours.
She fancied trellis for this purpose. She opted to leave it plain, treated.
Initially she wanted finials on top of the installation posts, but I suggested that it might be overkill as it was already quite an imposing height. We decided instead to go with pointed tops, which I think looks great.
This trellis has 50mm spaces. 100mm would have been too big and 30mm would have looked to severe.
And just in time for Christmas 2010.

Meranti & Hessian Screen

This Hessian Screen has a Meranti timber frame, coated with an Ebony water-based sealer.
I have sold many of these.
The size is 1.8m high x 1.8m wide (3 hinged panels of 1.8m high x 0.6m wide).
I think it is beautiful and serves both as a functional and attractive solution to divide a space and provide privacy...or even to hide an unsightly object or feature.

They sell for R1500 each.

Joao's Office Desk

Joao shaped his own contours and had me make up this desk for him. It was a simple exercise requiring some Superwood, a big router bit, some paint and some table-legs (available at any board stockist).
I think it looks rather smart.

Kathy's Classical Pergola

I replaced these doors for Kathy as their predecessors had rotted from the famous Newlands damp.
Kathy wanted to add some character to the landing and to give our doors some company, so I installed this simple little Pergola.

Carolynn's Latte Trellis Boundary

Carolynn wanted a nice rustic outline to her rather unique Tuscan style garden.
These latte trellis panels, fixed to Pine poles anchored in the ground, look great and really enclose the space very effectively.

Stuart's Classical Balustrade

This classical balustrade replaced a rusty old railing. I used treated pine, coated with a primer and 2 coats of water-based enamel, white.
Stuart wanted to get the spacing just right as it affects the overall look of a balustrade quite dramatically.
This is made up of panels of about 1.5m which were fixed to the front of the verandah wall.
Balustrades can also be fixed to the verandah top.

Carolynn's Wall Extension

Carolynn wanted to raise her faithful old wall to provide some more privacy for her and her family. I used treated pine slats and rails which have a lifespan, without maintenance, of about 15 years.

This afforded her the option to leave it plain or coat it with a colour of her choice. After many months of having it in it's natural state (as seen in the picture), she decided to put a toffee sealer on it.

Joao's Latte Pergola

Joao wanted a socializing space that provided cover from the sun with a nice rustic charm. I used machined, treated Pine poles for the frame and latte for the cover.

Nikki's Spaansriet Pergola

Nikki wanted her open courtyard converted to a covered socializing space. She chose to have the inside clad with Spaansriet (sometimes mistakenly called bamboo). We could have used latte, but they are more expensive and in this case Spaansriet were quite appropriate as they will not be exposed to the weather.
The end result was great - and just in time for Christmas 2009.
